What is it?

‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ is a movie that one can admire without exactly embracing it.

Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment’s next after ‘Luck By Change’ is a paranoia-inducing suspenser about a spit personality in this sort of psycho thriller toned mind –game of a movie.

Crafted with a commanding aloof precision by Vijay Lalwani in his first outing as a writer and a helmer takes an unusual dive into this genre which is not common in Bollywood without apparent rules and manages to generates an intriguing intellectual intrigue that covers 70% of its running time which allows to arouse buffs, trendies and techies more than the mainstream auds.

It’s not that dark, edge of the seat thingie but answers your ‘inner voice’ which demands some expecting moments.

The Story………….. Of course

'Karthik Calling Karthik', is the story of a lovable loser Karthik (Farhan), who lives in fear and how his life changes with the help of someone who also claims to be Karthik calls him and makes him a confident human being but things take a ugly turn when he doesn’t listens to one of his advice and loses his job and his pretty girlfriend Shonali (Deepika) and when he overcomes, the viewer gets introduced to an unknown secret.

What to look out for?

‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ projects the same sense of style that will inevitably be compared to a cross between Asian and Europe cinema that shows glimpse of steely technical mastery in the service of a story that demands an involving narrative.

Farhan Akhtar who after the dramatic appearance in ‘Rock On’ and the difficult but well done ‘Luck By Chance’ learns with ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’.

The actor is at ease in those sweet romantic scenes and shows confidence in playing the happening guy and simultaneously manages to make the viewers note his discomfort in dealing with a voice that changes everything in his life, a bit more intensity lessons for this role would have worked wonders but still it’s a noteworthy performance.

Deepika Padukone, the tall and the beautiful lass, contributes by her all-important warmth in whatever space and scopes she gets.

Ram Kapoor as the Boss and the immensely gifted Shefali Chhaya as the psychiatrist chip in with valuable support.

Technically, the film is immaculate, with Sanu Varghese sleek lensing, rich production design, Aarti Bajaj’s sharp editing, Shankar Ehsaan Loy’s grooving score “Uff Teri Ada” is finely done and the dense sound work by Midival Punditz.

What Not?

The movie does overlook some vital aspects in the characterization and takes liberties which are not easy to digest.

Like normally a person suffering form Schizophrenia is not aware of what the other character is doing but here its shown that he is aware and unaware according to the demand of the script.

The winding up of the entire plot is hurried and appeared forced that threatens to almost kill the tempo and the mystery tone which was twined around.

Conclusion: Go but with an open mind.

" TASHAN " MOVIE SYNOPSIS

A daringly different treat, the movie is set on a different backdrop which looks very much real. The story is about the bad guy Bhayyaji (Anil Kapoor) who has this strange penchant for learning English and flaunts his style in his own way. For this, he seeks the help of call centre executive Jimmy (Saif Ali Khan) who is reluctant to do so but then thanks to the intelligent and beautiful Pooja (Kareena Kapoor), he takes up the assignment and has a tough time trying to be a teacher to a don. In this process, he falls for the pretty Pooja and love happens. However, things don't look so straight as they seem and as a result of some unexpected twists and turns, the don Bhayyaji gets angry while the slick Jimmy gets deceived in a game of double crossing. All this apart, there is another character Bachchan Pandey (Akshay Kumar) a professional hit man who is set for a particular job of tracking a target and eliminating it and in the end he becomes the target. What follows is a roller coaster ride of action, high voltage drama and sentiment which can be enjoyed by watching it.

Dr.Mukherjee (Irrfan Khan)-Suffers from obsessive compulsive personality disorder, a perfect doc, clean and orderly, loves to be the captain of the team. Gangadhar (Rajpal Yadav)- Suffers from Schizophrenia, lives in the past with his mates Ghandhiji , Nehru , Tilak and Patel. He is so busy fighting for swaraj that he’s lost his sanity.

Dabboo (Suresh Menon) – Refuses to speak and nobody knows why! Cute and adorable and is everyone’s pet. Their lives revolve around Dr.Sonali (Juhi Chawla) who loves the ‘mad’ bunch .She firmly believes that the only way to treat her patients is to treat them with your heart and not just your mind.

One fine morning, Dr.Sonali decides to take the boys out of the rehab centre to watch a cricket match and eventually she is kidnapped by some men. The series of events that follow reveal how this so called Krazzy bunch unveils the identity of the criminals and rescue their doctor.

" U ME AUR HUM " MOVIE SYNOPSIS

U Me Aur Hum is divided into 2 parts. The first half is basically a simple love story on how Ajay (Ajay Devgan) woos Piya (Kajol). The second half tells us that marriage is not just sharing happy moments together but being there for each other at the time of distress. It’s also about fullfilling each other’s dreams and promises made to each other.

On a cruise, Ajay falls head over heals in love with Piya at the first sight. Although his first impression was disastrous, Ajay doesn’t give up and tries everything possible to woo Piya. And by hook or crook he succeeds in paving his way to her heart. The two soon develop a strong and special bond of love but not for long. Lies and deceit puts an end to their newly blossomed yet strong relationship.

But love brings them together again and despite the failing relationships of their friends, the two tie the nuptial knot. Soon their marriage becomes the ideal marriage for their friends to look upon and learn. Call it fate or anything; their successful married life starts to tumble and they face a lot of emotional crisis. What leads to the fall in their successful marriage? Will they get back to each other and live happily ever after?
